Todd Akin, has spent most of the day backtracking after saying that victims of "legitimate rape" cannot biologically become pregnant and thus do not need access to legal abortions.Source
"First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy after rape] is really rare," Akin told KTVI-TV in defense of his stand that rape victims should not be allowed to access abortions. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."
Akin said that even if a rape victim does somehow become pregnant, "I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."
Akin's comments sparked a big backlash on Twitter, where the hashtag "#legitimaterape" soon became one of the most popular terms on the site. A parody account bearing Akin's headshot mocked the Congressman for his comments. McCaskill, meanwhile, also went on the attack. "As a woman and former prosecutor who handled hundreds of rape cases, I'm stunned by Rep. Akin's comments," she wrote.
Akin said in a statement that he "misspoke" in the interview. "In reviewing my off-the-cuff remarks, it's clear that I misspoke in this interview and it does not reflect the deep empathy I hold for the thousands of women who are raped and abused every year," he said. He later wrote on Twitter that "all of us understand that rape can result in pregnancy & I have great empathy for all victims. I regret misspeaking." (Indeed, a study in the American Journal of Obstetricians and Gynecologists found that rapes result in more than 32,000 pregnancies each year.)

Yet experts said only a tiny fraction of computer users were at risk, and Internet providers would be on call to quickly restore service. They said they considered the threat to be small compared with more-prevalent viruses such as Zeus and SpyEye, which infect millions of PCs and are used to commit financial fraud.
As of this week, about 245,000 computers worldwide were still infected by Alureon and its brethren, according to security firm Deteque. That included 45,355 computers in the United States.

Deep within the budget documents prepared from the Pentagon's comptroller, there exists a single page devoted to an agency that, by all accounts, is no longer supposed to exist. Check out page 87 of the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation budget worksheet. The Counterintelligence Field Activity (CIFA) is marked as having a line item in the FY 2011 budget. The amount of money itself is classified and not printed.
CIFA stood up during the Bush Administration. It was tasked with providing counterintelligence support to the entire Pentagon. Its activities included domestic intelligence collection on perceived threats to U.S. bases and military interests. It ran into trouble when overzealous collectors began to fill databases with reports on political protests. That's bad. Whistleblowers and lawsuits revealed that users of
CIFA's Threat and Local Observation Notice system was stepping beyond the guidelines that were supposed to govern its use. After an investigation, CIFA was officially disbanded in 2008, and the Defense Intelligence Agency was given formal control of the Pentagon's main counterintelligence vehicle. Today, the DIA's Defense Counterintelligence and Humint Center provides the same services that CIFA does, albeit with -- one assumes -- more checks and balances. CIFA itself is not supposed to exist. But for whatever reason, it still has a line item in the budget.
Other harassment is more serious: the American Civil Liberties Union reports that thousands of ordinary American anti-war, environmental and other groups have been infiltrated by agents: a secret Pentagon database includes more than four dozen peaceful anti-war meetings, rallies or marches by American citizens in its category of 1,500 "suspicious incidents". From 2001 though the first half of 2009, USA TODAY found, the government spent more than $145 million on spent-hen meat for schools — a total of more than 77 million pounds served in chicken patties and salads. Since 2007, 13.6 million pounds were purchased.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission will miss a mid- January deadline to impose trading restrictions on commodities including oil, natural gas, silver and gold, CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler told a House Agriculture subcommittee today at a hearing in Washington.
Companies including Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Vitol and Cargill Inc. have met with the CFTC about the rules, according to the commission’s website.

He is also responsible for directing the Department’s efforts to combat money laundering and financial crimes.

Bruce Hanna during general session when the floor was discussing what to do about the state's 3.5 billion dollar budget shortfall (fire employees, cut back on services, close state parks), stood up with the cover page from the state CAFR in hand and stated that in less than a few minutes he found $3.5B to satisfy the state shortfall, there being no shortfall when comparing the state CAFR and the previous "selective" presentation of the State general purpose operating budget.

More than 10 years ago, Burien, a successful business who had an office in the World Trade Center during the late 70s and early 80s, became fed up with the fleecing of America and decided to use his business sense to do something good for the people.
And what he uncovered was the one of the largest scams being played on Americans, as politicians failed to report trillions in assets under Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR).
These reports, common in the corporate environment, have been done away with by crafty lawyers and politicians who have rewritten the laws of ethical business in order to hide money and mislead the American public about the wealth of their country, being used primarily to benefit a few crooked politicians and business men and not the majority of people.

"Gatekeeping" is the act of preventing others from recognizing an important, often vital, truth. The practice of willful gatekeeping is a deceptive and dishonest form of communication; a lie of omission, commission, and/or inference; a kind of disinformation. It typically involves keeping people from seeing the big picture, by withholding or suppressing some vital piece of circumstance-altering information, under the guise of telling people everything there is to know (excellent example of gatekeeping).Rivero's "What Really Happened" news blog believes in the 'official' story that a Boeing 757 was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon during the FALSE FLAG/INSIDE JOB of 9/11.
Ideally, a gatekeeper will keep certain thoughts from ever entering people's heads. Failing that, gatekeepers (usually plural) will distract and divert their attention from such thoughts, and try to get them to forget or, better still, disregard or even reject such ideas. One way to think of a gatekeeper is as the opposite of a sidewalk barker.
Here is a crude web page example, in which Mike Rivero of whatreallyhappened.com simply slathers LIE LIE LIE (in the title bar, location field page,name, and article headline) at the top of the screen. To be fair, there is (or at least was) a "well maybe Bush wasn't lying" disclaimer paragraph buried near the bottom of the article, but what percentage of people will read that? And since Rivero says it is possible that Bush was not lying, then why the LIE LIE LIE treatment "above the fold"? What better way to get people who don't like Bush to pay no attention to Bush's loose-lips-sink-ships statements than for an opinion-leader who supposedly doesn't like Bush to pre-emptively brand Bush's statements as lies? Such slanted, disingenuous treatment of Bush's statements will have 2 foreseeable effects: People who like Bush will devalue and disregard the article because they will conclude that its author "just hates Bush", while people who dislike Bush will place less importance on Bush's statements because they will disbelieve and disregard them as "Nothing to see here, Citizen. Just Bush lying again." It is illogical, if the point of the article is to get people to take Bush's statements seriously, to so blithely mislabel them as lies like that.

The 9/11 Commission now tells us that the official version of 9/11 was based on false testimony and documents and is almost entirely untrue. The details of this massive cover-up are carefully outlined in a book by John Farmer, who was the Senior Counsel for the 9/11 Commission.
Farmer, Dean of Rutger Universities' School of Law and former Attorney General of New Jersey, was responsible for drafting the original flawed 9/11 report.
Does Farmer have cooperation and agreement from other members of the Commission? Yes. Did they say Bush ordered 9/11? No. Do they say that the 9/11 Commission was lied to by the FBI, CIA, White House and NORAD? Yes. Is there full documentary proof of this? Yes.
The 9/11 Commission head, Thomas Kean, was the Republican governor of New Jersey. He had the following to say... “We to this day don’t know why NORAD [the North American Aerospace Command] told us what they told us, it was just so far from the truth. . . " When Bush's own handpicked commission failed to go along with the cover up and requested a criminal investigation, why was nothing done?
In 2006, The Washington Post reported..."Suspicion of wrongdoing ran so deep that the 10-member commission, in a secret meeting at the end of its tenure in summer 2004, debated referring the matter to the Justice Department for criminal investigation, according to several commission sources.
New study from Pilots for 9/11 Truth: No Boeing 757 hit the PentagonFlight 77's hijacker pilot, Hani Hanjour repeatedly failed to get his pilot's license on one of the world's easiest planes to fly, a single-engine Cessna, but somehow was able to pull off aerial maneuvers on 9/11 that combat pilots, with thousands of hours in the cockpit, said it would be impossible for them to pull off?
Pilots for 9/11 Truth obtained black box data from the government under the Freedom of Information Act for AA Flight 77, which The 9/11 Report claims hit the Pentagon. Analysis of the data contradicts the official account in direction, approach, and altitude. The plane was too high to hit lamp posts and would have flown over the Pentagon, not impacted with its ground floor. This result confirms and strengthens the previous findings of Scholars for 9/11 Truth that no Boeing 757 hit the building.
According to the report issued by Pilots for 9/11 Truth, there are major differences between the official account and the flight data:
a. The NTSB Flight Path Animation approach path and altitude does not support official events.
b. All Altitude data shows the aircraft at least 300 feet too high to have struck the light poles.
c. The rate of descent data is in direct conflict with the aircraft being able to impact the light poles and be captured in the Dept of Defense "5 Frames" video of an object traveling nearly parallel with the Pentagon lawn.
d. The record of data stops at least one second prior to official impact time.
e. If data trends are continued, the aircraft altitude would have been at least 100 feet too high to have hit the Pentagon.
(1) The hit point at the Pentagon was too small to accommodate a 100-ton airliner with a 125-foot wingspan and a tail that stands 44 feet above the ground; the kind and quantity of debris was wrong for a Boeing 757: there were no wings, no fuselage, no seats, no bodies, no luggage, no tail! Not even the engines were recovered, and they are practically indestructible.
(2) Of an estimated 84 videotapes of the crash, the three that have been released by the Pentagon do not show a Boeing 757 hitting the building, as even Bill O'Reilly admitted when one was shown on "The Factor". At 155 feet, the plane was more than twice as long as the 77-foot Pentagon is high and should have been visible. There are indications of a much smaller plane, but not a Boeing 757.
(3) Indeed, the aerodynamics of flight would have made the official trajectory--flying more than 500 mph barely above ground level--physically impossible, because of the accumulation of a massive pocket of compressed gas (air) beneath the fuselage; and if it had come it at an angle instead, it would have created a massive crater; but there is no crater and the official trajectory is impossible.
(4) Flying low enough to impact with the ground floor would have meant that the enormous engines were plowing the ground and creating massive furrows; but there are no massive furrows. The smooth, unblemished surface of the Pentagon lawn thus stands as a "smoking gun" proving the official trajectory cannot be sustained.
Duncan Hastie, the school’s owner, finds Hanjour a “weak student” who is “wasting our resources.” According to Hastie, “He was not able to fly solo in a small plane, which is equivalent to getting out of a parking space [in a car] and stopping.”Pandora's Black Box - Chapter Two - Flight Of American 77
Subsequently, he phones the school about twice per year requesting more lessons, but, according to Hastie, “We didn’t want him back at our school because he was not serious about becoming a good pilot.”

A Russian military journal warned that blasting the ionosphere would trigger a cascade of electrons that could flip Earth’s magnetic poles. “Simply speaking, the planet will ‘capsize,’” it warned. The European Parliament held hearings about Haarp; so did the Alaska state legislature.

On January 6, 2001, a joint session of Congress met to certify the electoral vote. Twenty members of the House of Representatives, most of them Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus, rose one-by-one to file objections to the electoral votes of Florida. However, according to an 1877 law, any such objection had to be sponsored by both a representative and a senator. No senator would co-sponsor these objections, deferring to the Supreme Court's ruling. Therefore, Gore, who presided in his capacity as President of the Senate, ruled each of these objections out of order.
